Our deck was installed with the trex boards butted up against each other and the result is that it holds rainwater and dirt and the the trex installation guide specifies 1/4 width to width spacing when installation temps are above 40f, and 3/8 width to width spacing when installation temps.
Trex composite decking comes in 3 grades. Their entry level is select, the next step up is enhance and their best line is transcend. Trex's premium decking line is called trex transcend. Trex decking has had a spotty reputation in the past if you believe internet reviews.
